The Joyful Christian is a collection of Lewis best work divided by topic. The Joyful Christian is academically challenging while being spiritually inspiring. “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”4/5.

I really wanted to find a book to help me relax. All those books were going to do nothing other than give me more stress. Then this book found me.

Yes, it does have some of those intricate designs, but most of the designs are the kind that help lessen my stress. Another bonus - appropriate scripture and quotes sprinkled throughout the book. America The Joyful Christian gives as good an introduction to the breadth and depth of Lewis's religious reflections as you are likely to find between two covers.

Christianity Today The most welcome general book in the field of theology. Excellent for both those who have long appreciated Lewis and those who need an introduction/5(22).

"Be Joyful" is a Bible study, but it reads more like a Christian Living book or commentary on Philippians. This older version of the book has the study questions for each chapter at the back of the book, but the newer version puts them at the end of the chapter they're for/5.

The Joyful Christian has faith, not only in the doctrines of the Faith, but also trust that God is working in her day to day life. The Joyful Christian has love for God. She is a disciple because she wants to spend eternity with the one who loves her most: God.

The Joyful Christian isn’t afraid of failures. Failure reveals opportunity. "Joyful is a delightful book with a powerful message: joy is easy to find if you know where to look. In Joyful, designer Ingrid Fetell Lee explains why some experiences are laden with joy, explores how we can cultivate these experiences every day, and shows us how to identify the most joy-inspiring people, places, and objects in our lives."/5().

Warren W. Wiersbe (–) was an internationally known Bible teacher, author, and conference served as the pastor of Moody Church in Chicago from to In his lifetime, Dr.

Wiersbe wrote over books—including the popular BE series, which has sold over four million copies/5(4). Whenever I struggle to feel joyful, I choose to reflect on how God always meets my needs. Time after time, I've seen God put forgiving love in me right where angry resentment had been half an hour.

Words like “joy” and “joyful” occur hundreds of times in the Bible, and a grumpy Christian is a contradiction in terms. The Bible says, “Rejoice always” (1 Thessalonians ). I don’t know why your neighbors are this way; it simply may be part of their personality.

But it also may be because they see the sad state the world is in. It is good news that joy is not optional in the Christian life, because the final weight falls not on our weak backs, but on the almighty shoulders of God himself.

David Mathis (@davidcmathis) is executive editor for and pastor at Cities Church in Minneapolis/St. Paul. For my fellow Christians, I know that sometimes staying joyful is hard to do. Luckily, besides quiet time and prayer, there is worship music. I am a big music person in general, so listening to music on my way to class or while I'm just hanging out in my dorm is a great way to inspire my joy through the : Maddie Wagner.

sexed out and blunted/But all I really wanted. Jesus says it is my joy in you. And Paul says, Rejoice in the Lord. Joy is the emotion of salvation. It is the joy of seeing, knowing, loving, and trusting Jesus Christ. We cannot generate this true joy ourselves — it is the product of the Holy Spirit in us (Galatians ).

Living a joyful life. It really is possible to live a life of joy in all situations. written by a man who wrote from his heart and life as a Christian, resonates true: it takes effort to be joyful when the situation or my mood dictates otherwise.

I need to make a choice. I need to. Ranging from the intrinsically spiritual -- the understanding of the nature of prayer, good works, or the incarnation -- to the very worldly -- the truth about fascism, psychoanalysis, or morality, The Joyful Christian offers inspiration to everyone who hungers and thirsts after joy.

- Back cover. Joy isn’t always an automatic response just because you’re a Christian. Yet on the other hand, the Bible does instruct us to rejoice always, in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians ). I mean really, God. (He says yes, really.) So how, exactly, do we have more joy, even when life is really, really.

Use it as a devotional book in your own personal time. It will speak to your heart in other ways too. This is my own review. I was not asked to do this, nor was I given a copy; I just enjoyed the book so much and found other ways to apply the truths in it to other aspects of my life and wanted to share it.

Based on the biblical teaching, I would go so far as to say that it is the Christian’s duty, his moral obligation, to be joyful. That means that the failure of a Christian to be joyful is a sin, that unhappiness and a lack of joy are, in a certain way, manifestations of the flesh.

Of course, there are times when we are filled with sorrow. In her book Breaking the Power, author Liberty Savard says that she was pretty rough in her youth, but when she became a Christian, God transformed her and gave her a ministry. So she was excited to give her parents a 50 th anniversary party, because it would be an opportunity to show old friends and family how she had become “an amazing.

It is said that this rule holds true in the business realm as well—80 percent of your business comes from 20 percent of your customers. He commented that he once pastored a church that followed the 80/20 rule in a peculiar way: 80 percent of the people wanted to fire him, and 20 percent wanted to kill him.

What I want from God (for myself and for you) “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” ~ Colossians b, NLT I read the above line of scripture this morning, and I might as well have written the words myself.

I know it's what we're told, but when I read those verses like the nearness of God is my good and All my springs of joy are in you, I always secretly questioned it. After all, the Psalmist didn't care about the things that matter to me.

He didn't even seem to think about things like being loved, or feeling good enough, let alone things like looking good and going to the beach. He just sat. Sue Miley MBA, MA, LPC helps small business owners build successful businesses on a foundation of Christian values.

What is the key to experiencing joy in the Christian life. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians ) but can often seem elusive for Christians. Before delving in to how we can experience joy in the Christian life, we must first recognize that joy is not based on circumstances.

Philippians, then, is a Christian psychology book, based solidly on Bible doctrine. It is not a shallow self-help book that tells the reader how to convince himself that "everything is going to turn out all right." It is a book that explains the mind the believer must have if he is going to experience Christian joy in a world filled with trouble/5(5).

Now in the Book of Life, our names have been written down. But that is where the problem starts. When they are unhappy and don’t feel joyful they are too often blaming others for their unhappiness.

It may be the spouse, it may be that situation at work that is so frustrating and constantly sours their mood. It really can become a miserable life with relationships that suffer because of it. Recently, I picked up a book on Amazon by Kimberly Rae, entitled, “Why Doesn’t God Fix It.

I really wanted to read this book more out of curiosity. Being a Christian in a World that is Largely Uninterested in Christ Joyful Abundant Life is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program.

In her new book, “Joyful Surrender: 7 Disciplines for the Believer’s Life,” published posthumously by Revell Reads, Elisabeth Elliot gives seven disciplines she believed would help us in our Christian walk: body, mind, place, time, possessions, work and feelings.

Although the conduct and attitude of his disciples sometimes left much to be desired, Jesus knew that at heart they really wanted to do God’s will, and he loved them on that account. (Luke ;, ) Significantly, in prayer to his heavenly Father, Jesus summarized the positive course that his disciples had taken up to that.

A few things I am learning I don’t really like, as they require me to change, and well change can be hard. However, as a Christian and a wife, I know that there are things that I need to work on.

(A friend of mine calls them “growing pains!”) In the last few days my attitude and outlook on life has been far less than joyful. “Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.” • I can see the best even in the worst. I can see God at work in the problems even when they don't go my way.
